Introduction

Ocean World is a virtual world that simulates the oceans of the Earth. It was created by Dr. Robert Jastrow and his son, Terry Jastrow, who are both oceanographers. The game allows players to explore various ecosystems in detail and learn about how they work from an ecological perspective. The game also offers educational benefits for students involved in marine science or oceanography programs at universities around the world

The Arctic Ocean

The Arctic Ocean is the smallest and shallowest of all five major oceans. It covers an area of about 14 million square kilometers (5.4 million square miles) and has a mean depth of 3.5 km (2 miles). The Arctic Ocean surrounds by land on all sides, making it impossible to sail from one end to another without passing through some other body of water first: namely, one or more seas or bays that separate it from its neighbors' bodies of water.

The Indian Ocean

The Indian Ocean is the third largest ocean in the world, covering about 20% of our planet. It's bordered by India, Africa and Australia.

This ocean connects to other oceans through its numerous islands: Madagascar and Réunion in Africa; Indonesia and East Timor in Asia; New Zealand in Oceania (the Pacific).

The Pacific Ocean

The Pacific Ocean is the largest of the world's five oceans. It covers about one-third of Earth's surface and is bounded by Asia, Australia and North America to the east and south respectively; on its western side lies Antarctica. The International Hydrographic Organization defines the limits of the Southern Ocean as follows:

• A line running from Western Africa through South America to Easter Island (Chile) along a meridian 80 degrees west longitude from Greenwich; then due north to Cape Horn (further east than 50°W).

• A line joining Cape Horn with San Diego, California on Baja California Sur Island in Mexico.[4]

The Atlantic Ocean

The Atlantic Ocean is the second largest ocean in the world and is home to many different types of animals, including dolphins and whales. The Atlantic Ocean connects with the Pacific Ocean via the Panama Canal, which was built by Ferdinand de Lesseps in 1870. This canal cuts through Central America and connects North America with South America at its narrowest point (the Isthmus of Panama).

The Southern Ocean

The Southern Ocean is the third-largest of the world's five oceans (after the Pacific Ocean and Atlantic Ocean), with a total area of about 61,000,000 square kilometers (23,800,000 sq mi). It covers about 8.6% of Earth’s surface.

Here are some facts about this beautiful place:

• It has been home to many animals over time including whales, seals and penguins. They all depend on it for food or shelter because it offers them protection from predators such as sharks or orcas who live in other parts of our planet but also because they need oxygen from sea water to survive so they can breathe underwater like humans do when they swim around near beaches at night because there aren't any fish swimming around during daytime hours!
